The second work in the "Along the River Zaan" series is finished too, Zeepziederij de Adelaar in Wormerveer. Size 50 x 40 cm, Ink, watercolor paint and colored pencil on watercolor paper.

First work "Along the river Zaan" series

The first work from the "Along the river Zaan" series is finished, the Lassie silo in Wormerveer. Size 40 x 50 cm, Ink, watercolor paint and colored pencils on watercolor paper.
I think this series will be around 8 works. I'm trying to finish 2 works for my exhibition in Zaandam in january.

Finished Colored pencil portrait

Yesterday the client came to pick up the drawing. She said that it was fantastic! I made colored pencil portraits before but this was the first commission. The size is 60 x 40 cm and the framed size is 80 x 60 cm.

Triple-portrait

I'm working on a triple-portrait in Colored Pencil. This is a commission by someone who saw my Newspaper article about Ruth Jacott and me.
October 15th is the deadline, so back to work!

Guinea Pig Bibi

It's been a while since my last post.
I'm working on a portrait with three people in Colored Pencil and some other commissions. I'm doing some DIY jobs around the house, that takes a lot of time too.

In between i made a small drawing, a birthday present for my niece in Norway. A portait of her Guine Pig Bibi. We had a "photo session" this summer.

I made some more sketches during a trip into the mountains (1000 meters above sea-level). They are made with Ink and Watercolor pencils.

Quick sketch

For the first time in many years i have been drawing outside. It was not easy but i hope that, with a bit of practise, i will get better at it. This is a quick sketch made with Ink and Watercolor pencils.

Denmark, July 26 2008

We went to Denmark to check out the space and to talk about the upcoming exhibition. It is a great space in a old presbytery on a small peninsula. There are plans for a Edvard Munch exhibition in the spring of 2009 and my work will hang there during this exhibition.
The owner of the Gallery bought one of my works, a pencil drawing of the Chiwawa and commissioned me to make two pencil drawings of his dogs.

Study Charcoal and White Chalk on colored paper

Today i tried out a (for me) new technique. Charcoal and White Chalk on Colored paper.
I saw a article in "the Artist's Magazine" and wanted to try it for myself. I like the result but need a bit more practice.
I worked with Charcoal pencils on blue paper.

The 3 portraits are finished

The portraits of Hanna, Maria and Magnus are finished! Let it dry, a layer of varnish and of to Norway.

I started right away with my next commission, a portrait of a collie named Sierra. After that there will be another dog commission.

Some of my works (20 to 25 pieces) are going to be on display in a gallery in Denmark.

Tuesday i'm going to pick up my work at the City Hall Almere. My work was on display there for 2 months.

Along the River Zaan

Last week i made some photos of the Industrial Heritage along the Zaan. I'm going to make a serie (starting with 4 or 5) drawings. I want to finish them before my 2 exhibitions in Zaandam. The works will be made with Ink, Water color and Colored pencil.

First international commission

I'm working on three portraits in oil paint. Size 30 x 40 cm. They have to be finished att the end of july, so we can take them with us to Norway.

Charles Barque, Drawing Course

I bought a copy of the book from Charles Bargue Et Jean-Leon Gerome: Drawing Course and started with the studies (on the left my version of "Plate 1"). I have more books about the classical drawing and painting method from the 19th century en i want to make a serious study of them.

Portrait Mila finished

The portrait of Mila is finished. Painted the last details yesterday. Now i have to let it dry for a couple of days, put a layer of retouche varnish on, deliver it to the client. I'm very satisfied with the end result.

I'm working on a portrait of the German Pincher Mila.
The first layer of color is applied, next are the details. He begins to look like Mila.
The size is 40 x 40 cm. It has to be finished on June 23th. I need to work a bit harder :-).

Opening exhibition City Hall Almere

On june 4 juni was the official opening of my exhibition in the City Hall of Almere.
It was a succesful and enjoyable opening. Thanks to some people from the city Almere.
De exhibition was intil juli 23 2008.
